Like so many farmers, my brother and I in cultivating our 180- hectare farm in the Childers area, Queensland, have faced the continuing rise in overheads in many areas, particularly relating to fuel in recent years. We do have a sizeable fuel bill each year in preparing and harvesting our main crop, sugar cane, along with minor rotational crops of maize, soybean and hay.
In 2005 my wife Susan, drew my attention to a program she saw on TV Channel 9′s A Current Affair, relating to a fuel saving device, the Fitch Fuel Catalyst. Whilst we had tried various fuel saving devices over the past years, few if any gave any worthwhile results so we were somewhat sceptical about trying a further one.
However the accreditation given by the Ch.9 report was such that we felt it worthy of a test and contacted the local distributor for Queensland, ordering a set of the drop-in units for my ’98 Rodeo 2.8 turbo diesel.
There was an immediate noticeable increase in power, with fuel economy noted at 5%. I was impressed, sufficient to purchase an F400 in-line unit that we fitted to our 215 hp. Case 4496 Tractor in front of a set of Grizzly 32 plate offsets.
After several tanks of fuel, usage went from 6.5 litres per acre to 5.8 litres per acre representing a saving of 10%. We have since fitted several more machines including an Austoft 7700 Full Track cane harvester, our 12-ton cane Haulout unit and a New Holland 7840 Tractor. The units are easy to fit and come with explicit fitting instructions.
In all instances we have experienced an increase in power and fuel economy of between 5% and 10% depending on conditions. As an extra bonus the engines run a touch quieter and definitely smoother.
This is a product that delivers in both economy and power and with the current price of fuel today it does not take that long for the cost of the catalysts to be recuperated by fuel savings. They are maintenance free and come with a 90-day cash back guarantee in the event one is not satisfied along with a 400,000 km warranty.
I am so impressed with this product and have no hesitation in recommending it for any machinery or vehicles in reducing overheads.

Following a very informative editorial on the Fitch Fuel Catalyst in The Land newspaper in February of this year we resolved to purchase one for trial on our Diesel Land Cruiser.
We did check the companies web site and were impressed by the shear amount of qualified testimonies from Government approved laboratories, major American companies including the Marine Corporation of America, Pratt and Whitney and the fact that US Congress had resolved to commence fit out of U.S.Navy vessels.
Our fuel costs per annum are extremely high in running the various equipment necessary in maintaining our 17,000-acre farm in Walgett, where crops include wheat, chickpea, barley, faba beans and canola.
Fuel logbooks have always been maintained for our vehicles and immediately we noted a 10-12% improvement in fuel efficiency with the Diesel Land Cruiser, and a noticeable gain in horsepower.
Based on this gain alone in fuel efficiency we have purchased further catalysts for the following machinery: -
2 x F250, 7.3 litre Turbo vehicles
1 x 9370 Case Tractor
1 x 4260 Case self-propelled spray rig
1 x Diesel Toyota
Drop-in units for mower and quad bike.
Thank you Fitch for providing such a worthy product, which we have no hesitation in endorsing.
